Does anyone have a trick for keeping the quality and making a recording to my hard drive of streaming shows? I'm a PC user running WinAmp....
Thanks & have a grateful day!

Advice on how to record the streaming (SBD) shows isn't usually given out on this Forum, you never know who might be reading and some of us fear the removal of the SBDs. To get really good quality shows it's worth learning to use the torrent sites.

Hey dpez, and welcome!

This forum generally adheres to the band's request that no soundboard-originated material can be available for download, so probably no-one here will answer your question.

You should, however, poke around: google "Lossless legs."

I bet you could also write a google search that includes the words "archive," "grateful dead," and one or two of the keywords in your question.

I use to have a Creative sound card that came with a player/recorder that would capture streaming audio in real time. What I didn't realize then is that streams are compressed files that I was recording as Wav files. I had marginal mp3s all bloated up into huge wav files. If you were to capture an Archive stream, you'd be doing the same thing. And, unless you can get the Archive player to consistently move from one track to another you'd have to nurse the streaming player to move from track to track. Learning to torrent isn't as hard as all that.

For soundboard recordings, the band permits trading only, but peer-to-peer filesharing falls into this category. What you want is http://bt.etree.org/ which is legal and band approved for fans trading shows.
